28th August 2024

Community Stars aims to support local non-profits and we're excited to award the winners of our second Community Stars fund of 2024.

Community Stars Awardees Round 2 2024

As a mutual Building Society, we are responsible for giving back to the community we serve. We do this by supporting local charities and not-for-profits that do important work in and around Stockport. That's why Community Stars exists: to celebrate and fund the non-profits that bring our community together. By becoming a Member of your local building society, you're supporting local causes. Together, we're greater.

We're excited to share the awardees of the Community Stars funding:

Samaritans of Stockport and District - £650

Arts for Recovery in the Community (Arc) - £500

The Cherry Tree Project - £500

Chelwood Foodbank Plus - £400

Riverside Cafe and Icy Bar CIC - £400

Keira’s Kingdom - £300

The Garden House Marple Charity - £300

Reddish Men in Sheds - £250

S-REP (Stockport Race Equality Partnership ) - £200

Buzzing for Creative Therapy - £150

Mountfield Rovers Junior Football Club - £150

Feelgood Communities cic - £100

Chairman of Cricket (Stockport Cricket Club) - £100

A spokesperson for Reddish Men in Sheds said:

"To be recognised and awarded funding helps to boost our morale as a group. The older population, especially those experiencing isolation, can feel 'unseen' in today's society and awards such as this go a long way to undoing that perception. We are incredibly grateful to the Vernon Building Society 'Community Stars Scheme' for supporting us and acknowledging the great work we do in our local community."
