Mental Health First Training

23rd July 2024

Ten members of the Vernon team recently took part in a refresher of their mental health first aid training with Mental Health First Aid England delivered by Millie's Trust to refresh their knowledge and learn what has been updated since their last training session.

Mental Health First Training | Vernon Hub

We believe in a society where everyone can talk freely about mental health and seek support when they need it. Some of the Vernon gang recently took part in a Mental Health First Aid training refresher. As a society, we have 10 MHFAiders which exceeds the 'norm' in practice for our size organisation!

About the day

The course was delivered by local charity, Millie's Trust and was endorsed and certified by Mental Health First Aid England and our team are all now re-accredited MHFAiders for the next 3 years!

Since our team of MHFAiders were last accredited, the course has been updated and they now have access to a Mental Health First Aid app which allows them to be a part of the national network, access many additional resources, and become better equipped to be there for our people.

About Mental Health England and Millie's Trust

The training day was delivered by a member of the local charity, Millie's Trust, and was endorsed and certified by Mental Health First Aid England.

Mental Health First Aid England are striving to achieve a society that can talk freely, through their mission to train 1 in 10 people in mental health awareness and skills. They are proud to be the leading provider of mental health training in England and have now trained 1 in 45 adults in England in mental health knowledge and skills, meaning their impact is growing every day.

The training day was delivered by Millie's Trust, a local charity established following the loss of its founders' daughter Millie in a choking incident at a nursery in October 2012. As parents of a child, they believe that everyone should have access to First Aid Training no matter what their situation in life is.

We're proud to have a team of MHFAiders who are part of the community working to create a society where anybody feels comfortable talking about mental health. We believe that it's important that our colleagues understand they have people they can confide in whenever they feel they need to. Our team are now re-accredited for the next 3 years!
