After a fantastic evening at the Stockport Business Awards celebrating the achievements of local businesses, a very dapper team of Vernon colleagues proudly received The Stockport Award.
The Vernon gang was happy to attend the 2023 Stockport Business Award and proud to accept The Stockport Award. This esteemed award recognises a local business that represents, advocates for, and champions Stockport, something that we are proud to do as we enter into our centenary year.
We're proud to accept The Stockport Award, but we don't do it for the glitz and glamour; we do it because we care about our community. We have been helping the people of Stockport buy their homes and grow their savings for 99 years. We enjoy supporting the community and helping local not-for-profit groups through our network of branches in Bramhall, Poynton, Marple, Hazel Grove, Stockport, and Reddish.
As a mutual building society, we have a responsibility to give back to the community we serve and one way we do this is by supporting the local charities and not-for-profits doing important work in and around Stockport. We want to celebrate and fund the non-profit organisations in the local area - that's why initiatives like Community Stars exists. Community Stars is just one way we give back to our local community. We are proud to represent Stockport and continue to do so as we make our way into our centenary year, where we are excited to launch the Vernon Charitable Foundation, another way of giving back to hard-working charities in and around our local area.
Steve Fletcher, Chief Executive at Vernon, said:
“We are delighted to be awarded The Stockport Award and have our dedication and support for the borough recognised by businesses across the region. The award is a great testament to all the hard work the Vernon team does day in and day out to better serve the people of Stockport. We exist to help our Members flourish and our local community thrive, and I couldn’t be prouder of our team, our Members, and Stockport in the run-up to our centenary year.”
This award represents a constant effort to prioritise our local community, by giving back and allowing local organisations to achieve their full potential which we will continue into our 100th year and further into the future.
