Exciting opportunity to become a Trustee

Vernon Building Society has a long history of giving back to the local Stockport and Poynton communities. To celebrate our centenary in 2024, we’re setting up a Charitable Foundation to give back to local causes and organisations.

Are you passionate about our community and want to be involved in charitable work? Then, we want to hear from you!

We’re looking for Trustees to help the Charitable Foundation, who will be responsible for supporting, governing, and strengthening the Charitable Foundation's objectives to promote community development.

The Trustees will meet every quarter (in person or via TEAMS) to discuss and award grants to charitable organisations within Stockport, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. The role of a Trustee will be voluntary.

Skills and Experience

• previous experience in a similar role;

• an understanding of the most pressing issues within Stockport, Cheshire and Greater Manchester;

• experience in grant-making, monitoring, evaluation and influencing social change; and

• an ability to think creatively and work effectively as part of a team.

• experience of chairing meetings.

We hope to gather these skills across all Trustee positions, so don’t worry, we’re not looking for all this experience in one person! The most important thing is a willingness to be hands-on as there is lots of work to do.
